Description

HERNDON, VA — It's spring and the animals at Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon are doing what animals do this time of year, giving birth to the next generation. Stella, an Alpine dairy goat at the park, delivered twin does on April 16, according to a post on the Fairfax County Park Authority's official Twitter account. Those looking to visit Stella and her children will be able to find her inside Kidwell Barn or outside near the cider press on warm days. Although the Park Authority pays for the farm's operation, the nonprofit Friends of Frying Pan Park owns the animals and relies on fund-raisers and donations for support. The friends group recently had to cancel its annual Spring Farm Day, which is one of its big fund-raising events. This means the group may lose thousands of dollars that it depends on to help care for and feed the farm's animals. To help offset the loss of revenue from the cancellation of Spring Farm Day and pay for the more than 100 animal ambassadors at the park, the Friends of Frying Pan Park is asking the public to make a donation. Frying Pan Farm Park is located at 2739 West Ox Road in Herndon. Spring births continue at Frying Pan Farm Park. Stella, an Alpine dairy goat, delivered twin does on April 16.
