AUSTIN, TX—Austin area residents will have an opportunity to offer their feedback on infrastructure during a public hearing as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) presents final proposal for I-35 Capital Express South Project. The public is invited to learn more about and provide their input on new managed lanes and safety improvements planned on I-35 from SH71/Ben White Boulevard to SH 45 Southeast. The community will have the opportunity to assist the virtual public hearing, or attend in-person to recommend alternative for improvements to the proposed $300 million project. Known as the I-35 Capital Express South project, improvements include adding two high-occupancy vehicle managed lanes in each direction along I-35, which includes constructing a southbound I-35 intersection bypass lane at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive; adding 2.5 miles of auxiliary lanes for entering and exiting traffic; constructing braided northbound entrance and exit ramps at Slaughter Lane; and enhancing bicycle and pedestrian paths throughout the corridor. The virtual public hearing begins Tuesday, April 27 through Wednesday, May 26, 2021, and will be available via my35capex.com.
