Description
JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City has its first application for a medical cannabis dispensary. Harmony Foundation, a Secaucus-based company, submitted an application on April 9.
The proposed dispensary would be located at 227 Cole Street, close to downtown Jersey City. The building is being used by Moishe's Moving Systems. The site is listed on the application as 30,820 square feet, the building is two stories tall. Harmony's plans include a 2,282 square-foot office and a retail space of just over 16,000 square feet, according to the application.
Jersey City doesn't have a medical or recreational cannabis zoning district.
In November, New Jersey residents voted to legalize recreational marijuana — Jersey City's municipal council voted in January to implement a 2 percent tax on medical marijuana sales. The tax money will go to affordable housing in the city.
