MOKENA, IL — The final phase of development for the Boulder Ridge subdivision will move forward, after the Mokena Village Board approved an amendment to the annexation agreement and preliminary plat at its Monday meeting.
The project is located west of Townline Road, and is surrounded by existing residential development, Director of Community and Economic Development Alan Zordan said. The property is owned by Sycamore Development, LLC.
Zordan said the Boulder Ridge development was approved in 2003, and the first three phases were completed within five years.
"The final phase 4 did not get built because of the 2008 recession, which brought most housing construction in the community to a close," Zordan said.
The last phase went into foreclosure and was sold, and the village received a proposal last year "to bring [the final phase] back to life," Zordan said.
According to board documents, the development will include 51 lots. Amendments to the plan include the widening of Townline Road, repairs and widening of the existing bridge there, and construction of a separate bike/pedestrian bridge.
The 51-lot subdivision will now move forward with final engineering, with "intentions to develop it yet this construction season," board documents state.
