Driver Revived With Narcan In Upper Makefield Crash: Police

UPPER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A driver was high on opiates when his pickup truck veered off the road Monday morning, according to the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. Around 8:30 a.m., officers responded to the one-vehicle crash at the Route 532 and Lindenhurst Road intersection, where a pickup truck traveled through the intersection, striking the traffic standard, hedges, and a John Deere tractor, police said. The driver was found to be unconscious behind the wheel of the vehicle, and officers determined he was suffering from an opioid overdose and administered Narcan to revive the driver, authorities said. Medics from St. Mary Ambulance Squad tended to the driver, who refused further treatment, police said. The driver was later charged with driving under the influence. "You may not be able to tell from the picture, but this is what a second chance looks like for the driver of this vehicle," Upper Makefield police said in a Facebook post. "We truly hope this event will help this person break their addiction and live the life they deserve."
