Press release from the Wright County Government:
April 26, 2021
Later today (April 26), the first set of results from the 2020 U.S. Census will be released at a virtual news conference at 2 p.m. CT and the results could have a significant impact on Minnesota.
With populations growing in other parts of the country at a higher rate than Minnesota, it could result in a shift in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College, as both are tied into Census numbers.
Minnesota has been one of the states analysts have been looking at that could lose one of its representatives – potentially dropping from eight to seven. If that happens, the state would have to be redistricted to make all of the districts approximately the same population while converting eight Congressional districts into seven.
