CHICAGO – Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine is making a Chicago comeback. Starting May 4, walk-ins can get the one-shot vaccine that was put on "pause" by federal public health officials earlier this month at the United Center. Chicagoans will be able to get drive-in jabs of the "J&J" vaccine in the United Center parking lot staring Saturday. The federally run vaccine depot at the United Center is wrapping up it's eighth and final week of first appointments and walk-up jabs of the Pfizer vaccine. Chicago public health commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said the operation will continue delivering second doses, and the city will continue to offer Johnson & Johnson shots at the United Center through June. "The bottom line is right now you can get a vaccine at the United Center it's Pfizer, you can walk up. You can make an appointment. We encourage you to do that," Arwady said. "But starting next Tuesday, you'll have the opportunity to walk in with J&J." More information on United Center appointments is available online.
