Description

Primary Purpose: Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties, usually under close supervision. Performs form work carpentry, sets forms for concrete structures and footings. Positions and places rebar in concrete forms to reinforce concrete. Typical Duties:May perform a variety of functions including, but not limited to: digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick, shovel, or rake. Lifts, carries, and holds wall forms, building materials, tools, and supplies. Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas. Pours and places concrete, gravel, and other materials, using hand tools. Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with caulking, rebar placement, general cleanup, demolition, and jack hammering. Worker may spend time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion (see also Description of Physical Requirements for All Field Positions). Requirements: Workers should be able to: follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; and evaluate information using measurable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and see well (either naturally or with correction). High school diploma or equivalent preferred and on-the-job training required. Due to the nature of our work, employees should expect to work out of town for one week, up to three weeks at a time.
