Shadyside PART-TIME apartment building maintenance position Available immediately – Position for intelligent, dependable, honest, self-starting person with rounded building maintenance skills with proximity to the Shadyside area in the event of emergencies. We have several small apartment buildings with eighteen units in the Shadyside/Squirrel Hill area. This is a part-time, permanent position. If you are in transition, or only temporarily looking for something, please do not respond. Driver’s license and own transportation required; pick-up truck an advantage but not vital. Responsibilities/skills preferred -- everything needed to keep a building running. • Plumbing skills and repair expertise is the highest demand, and most important • Carpentry, drywall, plastering, very helpful • Basic electric skills valuable • Ability to work on small roof/gutter leaks from a ladder or rooftop a huge plus • Knowledge of steam boiler systems a huge plus • Outside maintenance such as summer cutting grass and weeding for landscaping and winter snow removal needed • Inside maintenance such as hallway cleaning, painting also needed WHATEVER IT TAKES This position is PART-TIME. SELF-EMPLOYED. Time demands will vary. We might have a project (seldom) that will be 40+ hours/week until project completed. Other times may be only a day or two some weeks, or even less. Your hours will depend upon your own particular skills, and what arises in needs. You will be characterized as an independent contractor. WE DO NOT PAY IN CASH. You will be paid by check at the end of each week or job completion. If you do not currently have a checking account, you can cash your check at our bank a block away; no problem. Starting compensation will vary depending upon your skills and experience, but in the $18-20/hr range to start. You may eventually/quickly make more, topping out (for now) at about $25 range depending upon your abilities and experience, or be gone.
