Description
To the person who thinks he has the right to use his gun in public:
A vehicle can be a deadly weapon, depending on the way you drive. That's why you are required by law to have liability insurance. Prior to 1991, if someone caused an accident that damaged your car and injured you, they were liable but could walk away without being responsible. The Constitution says nothing about car insurance. It is a Texas state law everybody is required to follow, like obeying speed limits and traffic signals. By the same token, if your gun goes off accidently or your shot misses and kills an innocent person, you should pay for the damages and that should be guaranteed by a valid liability insurance policy. Nothing in life is free and you should be mature enough to understand why.
The same principle applies in the privilege to voice your opinions. If your opinions are determined by a court of law to cause real damages to another person, that person has a legal right to receive compensation. Adult behavior dictates that we cannot say anything we want anytime, anywhere. If you yell "fire" in a theater, you should be held accountable for the consequences. If you libel or slander someone, the law can compensate them from your pocketbook.
If you go to church, you or somebody else has to pay for the expenses of that church and the members are liable for any injury caused on church property. Protesters are responsible for their actions. There is no such thing as free grazing in this country. You pay for what you get if nobody else agrees to pay your way. Someday when you grow up, you might realize that the Second Amendment is not an entitlement given to you for free. It is a serious responsibility that you must earn or face losing. I believe what Jesus said in Matthew 26:52: "Put back your sword again, for all who draw the sword shall perish by the sword." You have a choice and you can't afford to make the wrong one.
