Summary Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Comply with DOT requirements to include licensing, vehicle inspection, hours, etc. Must have valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement. Drive in traffic and maneuver truck, including backing safely, to load and unload aggregate. Ability to follow written and oral instructions including city street maps and complete necessary paperwork. Ability to move hand and foot controls and understand and follow hand signals while operating the truck. Inspect truck from a checklist at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly. Understand that attendance and punctuality are required each day of work. Education and/or Experience Must have a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and a minimum of 2 years experience. The employee must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
