Indie/Post-Punk/Pop-Punk/Garage Rock Bassist seeking bandmates

Portland OR

Description

I'm relatively new to Portland and am looking to start up a band and get to playing music with folks once inoculated (mid-May). About me: I'm early/mid-30s, with a FT job and wife, but plenty of time to dedicate to making music. I've been playing bass for 20 years, thanks to the early aughts pop-punk/emo scene of blink-182, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, Jimmy Eat World, Motion City Soundtrack, Alkaline Trio, etc. I like bass lines that push a song forward with some flare here and there (think Joe Principe in Rise Against). I can jam out on a root note or go on a run, depending on what the song needs. These days, I've been listening to a ton of Sincere Engineer, Lola Tried, Beach Bunny, Jeff Rosenstock, Charly Bliss, Spanish Love Songs, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, Civet, the Beths, and on. I'd love to start a band pulling in all those influences to create something fun to play and listen to. Something with crunchy guitars, synthy goodness, and fast tempos. I want to play live and if it's in the cards, go on tours down the road. Preferably, I'm looking for: - At least 1 guitarist - Synth/Keys - A drummer who can hecking go - Folks who can sing because I sure can't And, to be perfectly blunt: This is a scene that's primarily been dominated by white, CIS male voices and POVs since the mid-90s. I'd much prefer to support a voice and songwriter who is _NOT_ that. I'm in NE Portland, but not afraid to drive. If you made it this far and are interested, respond with some of the bands you've been listening to and any demos you might have 🤘 🤙
