Needing Help With Car Trouble

Description

So I ended up buying my first car about a month ago. Long story short, it's very much a lemon, with tons of problems. But it ran, drove around, and stopped okay, so I didn't bother worrying too much about it. It's just meant to get me around Longview for the time being. However, I recently just had an issue that makes it undrivable for the moment. I'm not a mechanic, but I do have some basic knowledge on parts. From the pictures shared, it appears my shift linkage is completely disconnected? Not a very good pic to go by but it was the best I could do. I need to know exactly what's wrong. I've already been to a shop back when I bought the car and already sank money into "a checkup". I'm not doing it again. I can't afford that. I don't know if I'll be able to afford the problem being fixed. The car in question is a 1993 Subaru Impreza Wagon (AWD manual). What I'm asking for here is if it's possible to get the parts needed to fix the problem and do it myself, and if it's possible that I could get help with that from someone who's mechanically savvy? These are hard times, and I'm not paying some guy at a shop $140 to take 5 minutes and say, "Yeah that's broken." and then ask for a separate fee for fixing it when I already know something is wrong. I just need some guidance from a person who knows cars (or Subaru's in general) that can tell me what's wrong, what needs repaired/replaced, and how to do it myself. (Already checked Youtube and the web for help. Not a lot on 93 Subaru Imprezas that I found.) I could possibly even pay if they agreed to show up in person and help me out. I'll give what I can, but I'm not made of gold. I'm not even working, which is why I need my car running. If it helps, I can describe the issues involving the shifter up to when it stopped working. It was very loose, even in gear. In 1st, the gear stick could be wobbled around. Now it wobbles around in circles and doesn't go in gear at all. I'm guessing something important involving the linkage broke, came loose, or is altogether gone? I don't know for sure, which is why I need help.
