Recruiting Participants for Suicide Prevention Project

Description

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lane County and Lane County Public Health are recruiting participants who have survived a suicide attempt and are interested in sharing their stories. This project involves working with a photographer to document life after an attempt and to record an audio interview. Final publication of the project will be online and in galleries in Lane County. The goals of the project are: - To raise awareness about suicide and mental health by collecting stories that serve as examples of hope for people who may be going through similar struggles. - To confront stigma around mental health and suicide by highlighting the lives of those who have attempted, survived and continue to live, work and thrive in Lane County communities. - To encourage people in a position to help others in distress to get involved with their care. The Coalition is committed to representing diverse experiences about surviving a suicide attempt, with special care in helping rural, BIPOC, Indigenous American, non-English language, LGBTQ+, differently abled, and veteran participants to safely share their stories. Change in the way we as a community handle mental health and prevent suicide starts with breaking the silence around talking about it. Your story matters!
