Division/Department: Operations/Facilities and Equipment Reports to: Facilities and Equipment Department Manager Location: Berthoud, CO Type of Position Temporary Status: Non-exempt POSITION SUMMARY Northern Water is seeking a seasonal Landscape and Irrigation Technician to assist the groundskeeper at the Berthoud campus. This individual would provide general labor, maintenance, and repairs to landscape and irrigation systems. Duties include maintenance of turf, trees, shrubs and flower beds, repair of irrigation pipe, and maintenance of water feature. Responsibilities also include the operation and maintenance of equipment as needed to perform duties. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Facilities and Equipment Department manages and oversees all Northern Water buildings and grounds located at the Berthoud campus and all vehicles, equipment on both East and West Slopes. This department is responsible for inspections, custodial, electrical, mechanical, structural, grounds and landscaping needs. Additionally, this team supports safety, security team, special events and assists other departments with their projects as needed. GENERAL STATEMENT This position will assist the groundskeeper with general labor, maintenance, and repairs to landscape and irrigation systems of Northern Water. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Replaces trees, weeds ornamental beds, and removes and replaces sod. • Cleans water features, sidewalks, building exteriors, water filter, chlorinator, and trash screens on water feature. • Operates a wide variety of equipment, such as utility carts, mowers, edgers, string trimmers, aerators, blowers, and other power tools. • Assists with Trimming and Chipping of trees. • Exposes irrigation pipes for repair. • Repairs irrigation systems and maintains landscape equipment. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • As assigned. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience • Three years of experience in irrigation system repairs and landscape maintenance. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS • Valid driver’s license. SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Attention to detail. • Accurate. • Safely operates and maintains mowers, trimmers, aerators, edgers, and power tools. • Good communication skills, able to follow instructions. • Dependable and reliable. • Positive attitude and good work ethic. • Works well both independently and as a contributing team member. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Stands, sits, walks, stoops, kneels, bends, lifts, digs/shovels, and climbs ladders for extended periods. • Endures outdoor weather extremes such as temperatures, intense sunlight, rain, high winds, dust, pollen, etc. • Lifts to 50 pounds. • Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
