Description
Have an 02 Prius that needs hybrid battery cells replaced (I'm fairly certain that is the problem).
It received the red triangle warning this late fall but still ran so I parked it thinking I would work on it sometime (of course the CC was stolen during this time). I must have let it sit too long this winter because when I try it now it kicks on for 5 seconds or so and shuts down. Installed a new Optima battery with installation kit from eLearnAid thinking that might help but from everything I've read, I fear it may be the main hybrid battery.
Please let me know what you think your rate/total cost to work on this would be. I have contact a few autobody shops but all will only do a brand new replacement battery due to liability issues. I've read you can rebuild the individual cells or use a rebuilt battery altogether for a lot cheaper and that is the route I'm looking to go.
Thank you!
