It's gonna be MAY! TL;DR: Sign up here to join us for tidying up with either Asian Youth Services or Equality Should Be Normal, a neighborhood cleanup at Pilsen! May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month y'all and you know what that means?! If you answered that we Mulan'd prematurely then you would be correct. BUT ALSO and *much* more importantly, we'll be collab-ing with some new non-profit and social partners in honor of AAPI Heritage Month! And since May is a time for us to recognize and celebrate the vast contributions made by AAPI, there's never been a better time for me to use all these Awkwafina gifs! If you've been sleeping on the triple threat that is Nora Lum, known professionally as Awkwafina, WAKEY WAKEY you are late o'clock. But anyway, back to business: Clean-Up with Asian Youth Services Asian Youth Services; 3117 W. Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625 at 10AM We'll need 10-15 volunteers to help clean and organize the Asian Youth Services space to get them ready for the kiddos to come back.This event will have folks lifting heavy items indoors. Tasks will be clearly explained and delegated on site.Carpool if you can please - street parking is available. If you drive, try not to leave any items visible in your car. You hydro homies already know to bring a reusable water bottle because we're trying to limit our disposable bottle usage. Please and thank you!Bring extra masks and hand sanitizer just in case you need it!Clean-Up with Equality Should Be Normal Parkway Gardens; 6415 S. Calumet Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637 at 10AM We'll need 30-35 volunteers to help clean and beautify Parkway Gardens. Tasks will be clearly explained and delegated on site.6 police officers will be volunteering with us. Plus there will be a DJ, a free COVID testing booth, and a BBQ lunch for all residents and volunteers to enjoy.Carpool if you can please - street parking is available. Union Park, 1501 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60606 at 1PMIn honor of AAPI Heritage Month, we will be partnering with Marz Community Brewing and Mom's Chicago, a restaurant specializing in Japanese comfort food, for our May afterparty picnic! Marz and Mom's are passionate about supporting non profits, artists, and building community in Chicago. Also their beer is the bomb. Learn more about them on their website! Place your lunch and beverage order when you sign up for the event. We will follow up with you individually via email with instructions to pay for your order.Orders are due Friday, April 30th at 8PM and will be delivered to our afterparty location. BYO picnic gear (blankets, games, speakers) and whatever else you wanna snack or sip on.
