Pekiti Tirsia Kali seminar with Tuhon Tim Waid DESCRIPTION: 4 hour seminar on the close-quarter combat applications of the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF]. This Filipino martial art is used by both law enforcement and military forces in resolving threats. The techniques learned can be applied with weaponry and is an excellent form of unarmed self-defense. Early Registration: $100/person Day of Event: $125/person YOU WILL LEARN: Foundation principles of explosive empty-hand striking and lock-flow. Dynamic footwork and correct body mechanics for creating entries, and ranging maneuvers to escape to safety.Application of the "hand blade" principle. Explosive unarmed self protection skills. Transferring the dynamic principles from weaponry to empty-hands. EQUIPMENT (bring it if you have it): Rattan Stick. Eye protection. Hockey/Lacrosse Gloves. Rubber training knives. FAQs Do I need to have experience in martial arts to attend? The seminar is open to all skill levels and backgrounds, martial arts experience is not necessary. The goal is for everyone to develop good functional skills, understanding of good body mechanics, and serves as an introduction to our edge-weapons based combat system. You will learn training methods to develop practical, self protection skills, unarmed tactics and use of improvised weapons (every day objects like smartphone, keys, pen, etc.); evasive maneuvers, and how to escape to safety.
