WESTBOROUGH, MA — Eighty percent of Westborough's oldest residents — people over the age of 75 — have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state's data. Thirty-two percent of Westborough residents as a whole are fully vaccinated, up from 28 percent last week. Roughly 2.1 million people have been fully vaccinated in Massachusetts, the state reported Thursday. The state numbers account for vaccinations up to April 20 — only one day after eligibility was extended to all people over 16. Roughly 23 percent of people under the age of 30 in Dedham had received at least one dose at the time of the state's report last week. The number of young people who have received at least one dose is expected to rise in this week's report. Roughly a quarter percent of the town's residents have received just the first dose. Nearly three-quarters of residents ages 65 to 74 — the second oldest age group — are fully vaccinated, and 18 percent in that age group have received just their first dose. Westborough reported 50 cases of coronavirus in the two weeks leading up April 17 according to the state report released Thursday, placing it in the "yellow" zone.
