WAKEFIELD, MA — Town Council and School Committee races are among those on the ballot Tuesday, as well as a question that may be the end of a debate that has engulfed the town. Polls open for the annual Town Election at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Residents can vote at the Galvin Middle School at 525 Main St. Patch will have live results as they come in along with election updates throughout the day. Community contributor Wendy Dennis went beyond the general statements with Town Council candidates. Then there's the nonbinding ballot question: "Do you support keeping the Wakefield Warrior logo with Native American imagery as Wakefield Memorial High School's logo?" The question comes a month after the School Committee voted to do away with the logo, which has been called offensive by many Native Americans. If the "no" side wins, it could be enough to put the divisive issue behind the town as the School Committee works toward a new logo. A "yes" vote could result in renewed fervor opposing the switch.
