MALDEN, MA — A Dominican national faces federal drug trafficking charges in connection with an operation in Malden and Chelsea last summer, the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Junior Baez Sanchez, 28, was indicted last week on two counts of distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl. He is accused of dealing fentanyl in Chelsea on June 2, 2020 and in Malden on July 15, 2020.
The charge of distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 40 years in prison, a minimum of four years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $5 million.
A detention hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 26.
