FALMOUTH, MA — A Falmouth home near Waquoit Bay was destroyed in a fire Friday afternoon. Just before 3 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire at 20 Crosby Lane. Firefighters from Falmouth and Joint Base Cape Cod battled the flames. When they arrived, flames from the second floor were visible from outside the home, fire officials said. Before firefighters showed up, Deputy Fire Chief Scott Thrasher, who was off duty, arrived and reported that all four family members and their dog were safely outside the house. Emergency officials brought when resident to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation, but their condition wasn't life-threatening, fire officials said. Fire officials said strong winds fed the flames and eventually caused a partial roof collapse. Firefighters then had to shift extinguishing the flames to outside the house because the structure became unstable. Crews from Bourne and Cotutit came for additional help, and the fire was put out around 5:30 p.m. Fire officials said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
