BROOKLINE, MA — For more than a decade Pizzeria Dante has served up pie to hungry folks passing through the Coolidge Corner area. It moved from its Beacon Street location in 2016 to its current spot on Harvard Street, and now, five years later it's getting a makeover. Pizzeria Dante owner David Dragani said the restaurant will renamed Club Dante, and pizza — the same pizza that was featured in a Phantom Gourmet episode — will take a back seat to its other classic Italian food, such as his homemade pasta. Dante's, which is on Harvard Street closed most of May amid the pandemic, and when they reopened, they reopened with a bang, Dragani told Patch in January. But most people still working from home, it has meant that businesses haven't been calling to him to cater lunch as much. His restaurant used to rely on catering orders, and it cut into his margins. "We're trying to reshape the business a little bit," Dragani told the Select Board during a license hearing April 20. Dragani said he plans to renovate the space, spruce up the menu and embrace "more of a restaurant vibe," he said. Look for craft cocktails and wine and liquor to go alongside live music in the updated space, he said.
