Description
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY—An application from apartment complex developer Blue & Gold Holdings for Suffolk County IDA tax breaks was approved last week. The proposal is for Northridge Square, a proposed 16-unit apartment building on New York Ave. near the LIRR train station.
The Suffolk IDA board approved the proposal after an earlier vote failed to garner enough votes. The project will receive over $700,000 in tax breaks over 15 years.
The two-story apartment complex will consist of one-bedroom apartments, with three units priced to be affordable. Retail space will be created on the first floor.
In the application, Blue & Gold Holdings stated that founder Robert Havasy is a lifelong resident of Huntington and the company has a "a passion to redevelop the area around Huntington Station."
Suffolk County Executive Bellone was in favor of the IDA decision, calling the project the type of transit-focused, multifamily rental development Suffolk County is in need of, in a letter he wrote to Suffolk IDA executive director Anthony Catapano, according to Newsday.
