BAY SHORE, NY — A beloved Stormtrooper statue that was stolen from a Bay Shore store earlier this month was returned to its rightful owner this past weekend. The theft was reported on April 1 at about 3 p.m. from the Blast From The Past store on 125 W Main Street. Surveillance video shows two people walked away with the 3-foot tall statue which was not for sale but being used as a decoration. According to store owner Richard Mcwilliams, Suffolk police contacted him Saturday morning to tell him the statue has been found and they were going to return it to the store. Police found the statue after receiving tips from the community that it was at a home in Wyandanch. The man who had the Stormtrooper said it was sold to him but had no idea it was stolen. He handed it right over to police and about an hour later, it was returned to its rightful home. One woman was arrested in connection to the theft, according to Mcwilliams. "A huge thank you to Suffolk County Police Department and our entire community across Long Island for the tips that helped bring our little man with bad aim back home," Mcwilliams wrote on Facebook. "Now we can return our customers [the Stormtrooper] he so graciously lent us while ours was out on the town." Photo courtesy of Richard Mcwilliams
