MANASSAS PARK, VA — A dog was shot outside of the Manassas Park VRE station on Monday morning, according to police.
The dog was transported to the MedVet animal hospital in Manassas after the shooting. In an update on Monday afternoon, the Manassas Park Police Department said the dog is in stable condition, but he may need to have his hind leg amputated.
Now, authorities are looking to identify the dog's owner.

Witnesses reported hearing six total gunshots outside of the VRE station on Monday morning. After the dog was shot, he followed the person back to a black SUV, police said. The SUV fled the area, and the dog was left behind.
The police department said they will begin accepting donations towards the dog's veterinary bills at their headquarters. The headquarters is located at 329 Manassas Drive, Manassas Park VA 20111
