Youth Coach With Piscataway Ties Charged With Child Sex Crimes

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A wrestling/basketball coach who used to work at Piscataway High School was indicted last Thursday on multiple charges of criminal sexual contact with a minor, as well as secretly filming several adult victims. The wrestling coach is John M. Denuto, 44, of Spotswood. He is a former special education teacher at Sayreville Middle School and former wrestling coach at the Union County College. Denuto briefly coached at Piscataway High School, in Woodbridge and Old Bridge and coached wrestling and basketball at many high school athletic programs throughout Central Jersey. Denuto was initially arrested on February 15, 2020 after Sayreville Police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office alleged he had criminal sexual contact with a juvenile and possessed child sex materials he had made by filming and photographing the juvenile. Further investigation determined Denuto was in possession of additional child sex materials, of other juveniles, said police. Denuto had likewise photographed seven other victims' intimate parts without their knowledge, and inappropriately touched five of those victims, said the Middlesex Prosecutor. The investigation is active and continuing.
