AUSTIN, TX — A man is dead after being fatally shot in North Austin on Sunday evening, officials said. One person has been detained in connection to the shooting, Austin Police Department told reporters Sunday in a news conference. Officers are on scene of a suspicious death near the 8000 block of Research blvd service road, north bound. Will update with media briefing location and time as soon as possible. Case number 211151073.— Austin Police Department (@Austin_Police) April 25, 2021 Officials were called to the 8100 block of Research Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after a caller said they heard multiple gunshots. When officers arrived, they discovered a man laying in the street. Austin-Travis County EMS performed life-saving measures; however, the man was later pronounced dead. Officials have not confirmed if the suspect, who was detained, and the victim knew each other. Authorities did say the event was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public.
