HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken at one time had four farmers' markets running in one mile-square city. While the city is not likely to return to that pre-pandemic number this spring, officials have announced that two markets from last year will soon return. Last year, the Uptown Farmers Market moved to the space under the 14th Street Viaduct, where it will return this year. Opening day will be May 1. According to the market's Facebook page, "Spring is here and you know what that means — It's almost farmers market season! We're gearing up to open the Uptown Farmers Market on May 1 under the 14th Street Viaduct — with fresh produce, baked goods, dairy products, and more every Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m." Councilman Phil Cohen posted on his Facebook page last week that the market is "the pride of the #5thWard" and asked for comments. In addition, the Hoboken Farmers Market will return on Tuesdays starting June 1. That market will tentatively take place on Garden Street between Fourth and Fifth streets, like last year. Last year, it ran from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Keep updated on its page here. Other towns A farmers' market in Downtown Jersey City kicked off on Monday, and more may be coming soon.
