REDONDO BEACH, CA — President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan brings about $18.5 billion in local fiscal relief to California communities, including Redondo Beach and Torrance. "Throughout COVID-19, local communities have been under unprecedented strain, with many having to lay off educators, firefighters, and other essential workers, or failing to provide the services communities rely on," said Rep. Ted Lieu, who represents California's 33rd Congressional District. "This funding will go toward enabling local governments to continue to support the public health response, address the losses in revenues they've experienced as a result of this crisis, provide premium pay for essential workers to avoid layoffs, and more," Lieu said. Redondo Beach will receive an estimated $7.1M. Torrance will receive an estimated $23M. Palos Verdes Estates will receive an estimated $2.5M. Rancho Palos Verdes will receive an estimated $7.8M. Rolling Hills will receive an estimated $350K. Estimates are based on data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
