POTTSTOWN, PA — Fifty Pottstown Middle School students had lots of help on Saturday — and lots of mulch — to help transform school courtyards into a beautiful garden space. Transforming the Pottstown Middle School courtyards from what Student Council Advisor Andrea Roberts described as "Garden Nightmare" to "GardZen " was an Earth Day project success. Roberts said the council had an opportunity to meet outside of zoom for the first time in almost a year and they used their time to brainstorm this project from start to finish. The plan called for a team of over 50 students, teachers, administrators, and community mentors volunteering their time on a Saturday morning to clear, redesign and spread over 15 tons of mulch to transform both of the middle school courtyards, according to the school district. Principal Brian Hostetler, who was on hand to lend his muscle in moving the mulch said, "I am very proud of our students, staff, and community members for coming together to support our school. Their efforts will provide a beautiful area for outdoor education."
