ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving workplace harassment, the battery of an officer, a college fight, a garbage fire, a man following a woman from a park, shoplifting, an egging, downtown damage, a stolen car and DUIs. Here is information from the latest police reports: Employee alleges harassment An employee at Edward-Elmhurst Health Center, 755 N. York St., told police Thursday she had been the victim of sexual harassment by another employee at work. She said she would contact human resources and was willing to sign a complaint against the suspect. Pen thrown at officer Jonathan J. Jordan, 34, of Wichita, Kansas, was arrested at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on a charge of battery. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Jordan argued with hospital security and refused to leave the premises. Then he threatened to fight officers and threw a pen at one of them. Fleeing from officers Armani McComb, 21, of Seattle, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at Roosevelt and Harrison on charges of fleeing and eluding officers, no valid driver's license and speeding. College fight Officers responded to the report of a fight between two students about 10 a.m. Sunday at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Avenue. The caller and her mother did not wish to pursue charges. Garbage fire Firefighters and officers responded to a plastic garbage can on fire about 1:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Berkley Avenue. It was determined the can contained stain-filled rags. No one was injured. Followed from park A woman told police she was parked at Eldridge Park, 363 Commonwealth Lane, about 6 p.m. Sunday when a man parked next to her and tried to get her attention. The victim drove off, and the man followed her. The woman got the man's license plate. When an officer called the man, he said he was just trying to get her attention to ask for gas money. He said he did not follow her. Shoplifting Kevin Valentine, 36, of Naperville, was arrested Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on DuPage County warrants and on charges of burglary, retail theft, criminal trespassing of a motor vehicle, criminal damage and obstructing identification. The incident in question was about 3 p.m. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, police responded to a theft in progress at Kohl's, with Valentine leaving the store, dropping items and running away. Egging A house and car in the 400 block of Oaklawn Avenue were egged overnight Saturday. Downtown damage Several doors, windows, counters and an information sign at the train depot, 128 W. First St., were scratched and damaged between 2 p.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday. After taking that report, the officer found similar damage to a window at Red Dragon Chinese Restaurant, 117 W. First St., and a glass door leading to the second floor of the building. More damage was found on the two glass front entrance doors at High Voltage Hair Society, 111 E. First St. Unwanted texts and photos A resident in the 600 block of Mitchell Avenue told police Saturday that a man was sending text messages and photos to her when he was only supposed to have contact with her about their children. An officer left a message with the man notifying him to have no further contact with the victim. Identity theft A resident in the 400 block of Highland Avenue told police Thursday that someone possesses a fictitious Illinois driver's license that contains her information. She said the person is using her identity as part of a scam. She has frozen her credit and reported the issue to the Federal Trade Commission. Tire slashed Someone slashed the rear driver's side tire of a car Friday in the parking of Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. Drugs Cecilia Vargas, 39, of Chicago, was arrested about 11 a.m. Saturday at York and Diversey on charges of possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and unlawful use of a phone while driving. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Vargas had 3½ ounces of marijuana. DUIs Giovanna Gilardo, 21, of Melrose Park, was arrested early Thursday morning at Lake and Grand on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to signal. She was released on bond. Frank W. Loment, 56, of Bensenville, was arrested about 8 p.m. Friday at York and Industrial on charges of DUI, speeding and driving on the median. He was released on bond. Azmi Sharif, 27, of Downers Grove, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. He was released on bond.Artemio Lopez, 44, of Bensenville, was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and North on warrants and on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license, improper lane usage. He was released on bond. Stolen car Hassan R. Coleman, 30, of Rockford, was arrested about 3 a.m. Friday at York and Brush Hill on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, an officer saw that Coleman's car was stolen. At the police station, Coleman admitted knowing the car was stolen. Driving violations Tiara P. Strong, 24, of Villa Park, was cited about 11 p.m. Thursday at St. Charles and Monterey on charges of no valid driver's license, improper lighting and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. Thomas Clifford, 41, of Addison, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at North and Myrtle on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper display of registration. He was released on bond. Ernestine Dinkins, 70, of Melrose Park, was cited about 10 a.m. Friday at York and Belden on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and using a phone while driving. She was released on bond. Ricardo Arriola-Barranco, 38, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at North and Route 83 on a warrant and on a charge of no valid driver's license. He was released on bond. He was arrested after a traffic crash. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
