UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The COVID-19 seven-day average rate in the three ZIP codes that make up the Upper West Side continues to trend downward as the vaccination rate in the neighborhood climbs. The Upper West Side has consistently had some of the lowest COVID-19 rates in the city during the pandemic. Now, as lower positive rates are being recorded in every part of NYC as vaccine rates go up — the Upper West Side has seen its latest seven-day COVID-19 rate fall under 1 percent. The average COVID-19 rate for the week of April 16 through 22 for the UWS' 10025, 10024, and 10023 ZIP codes was 0.89 percent. On Saturday, Manhattan's average COVID-19 positive rate was 0.96 percent. Increases in the vaccination rate on the UWS also continue as 69 percent of residents have now received at least their first shot, according to city data. 51 percent of Upper West Side residents are fully vaccinated as of Monday.
