Description
Hello! We are searching for a forever home for our rescue, Tucker. He is a 3 year old Australian Shepherd, we believe he is a mix, but aren’t sure with what. Please read ALL information BEFORE contacting. He needs a very specific home, and we will want to discuss details with each applicant, so please be sure to read the entire listing. Tucker was first found near Maricopa County Animal Control West, and spent a few days running between two yards, playing with other dogs. We believe he was dumped, and we spent 2 months searching for his family not knowing whether his family dumped him, or if he was stolen and dumped elsewhere. To date, no one has come forward for him. He is not microchipped, or neutered. Tucker is a very special case, and being so, he needs a very specific and special owner/family. When we first brought him in, he was TERRIFIED of my husband, and it was very clear to us that he had been abused by a man. It took him a couple weeks and lots of patience, understanding, and one on one training with my husband, but he has made huge strides in his confidence and trust with men. He still needs to continue with confidence and basic obedience training. He’s very shy at first, but he warms up REALLY quickly, especially with women. About a month ago, we found him what we believed was the perfect family + home. Unfortunately, it didn’t end up working out due to him repeatedly escaping and becoming fearful of the couples neighbor. It is no fault of the couples at all, and they truly had so much patience with him, and loved him. It broke both of our hearts to have to have him come back, but it’s also helped us to realize a few MUSTS this time around so that we can ensure this will be his true forever home. We will be requiring you to have a fenced yard (this was one of the main issues w/ the other family) and we cannot make ANY exceptions to this requirement— this is a MUST. One positive about the adoption that failed was that Tucker developed trust quite rapidly with the man of the household, and was great with their male company that visited. Tucker is great with other dogs. I am a trainer, so he has been exposed to lots of different sizes and personalities without issue. He loves children, and seems to warm up quickest to them, he’s a very sweet and affectionate boy. He has low drive and energy, and would do best in a home where he can just hangout with his people, snuggle, and go on walks. His pretty low maintenance in this regard. He walks well on a leash, and isn’t a puller. Rehoming fee is $200. If you feel you would be a perfect forever home for this sweet guy, please reach out! The quickest way to reach me is either by phone— call or text! When inquiring, we would greatly appreciate it if you could include some information about yourself, and why you feel you’d be a great home for Tucker! We highly prefer these types of applicants. I’d be happy to answer any further questions you have as well! Thank you for taking the time to read (I know it was a novel!) and considering Tucker :)
