As an older drummer who's now retired from gigging I feel your pain. What seems to qualify as a "pro" player in this valley differs quite a bit from the east coast where I played for years before moving here. There, most who told you they were pro level were at least close to the real thing. Here, if a guitar player knows more than 3 cords, a drummer knows more that 2 beats and 2 fills, and a singer does more than 1 song on karaoke night, they consider themselves pro level. There are a few out here who are the real deal but they are hard to find. For an area as big as this valley is, the true musician pool is very small and shallow. Good luck to you on your search for those few needles in this huge haystack.
