Living with Wildfires: Community Discussion May 2, 2021 2pm-3pm Register at this link: Have you ever been evacuated from your home due to an encroaching wildfire? Were you stuck indoors for days due to heavy wildfire smoke in the air? Have you recently moved to central Oregon from an area that doesn’t have a wildfire season, and are worried about what to expect this upcoming summer? Share your experiences with wildfires and their effects in our virtual discussion! This event will provide a space for you to: Talk with other members of our community Ask questions about this upcoming fire season Give your input about what you want and need to know to be fully prepared Come join 350Deschutes for a virtual community discussion about wildfires in central Oregon. We are giving you the opportunity to share your experiences with wildfires and their effects on the people, homes and landscapes of our community. We will be utilizing Zoom breakout rooms to allow every individual who attends this event to share stories, ask questions, and provide feedback about what you want to know, or what you wished you knew, about wildfire preparation. Our goal with this event is to provide a space for members of our community to start a discussion about how we can help ourselves and each other be ready for wildfire season. We will take direction from your input to provide the information you want and need about topics like evacuation how-to’s, home hardening, emergency services, and more throughout our “Living with Wildfires” series. Register now to be a part of the discussion! Link: This virtual discussion is a part of our Living with Wildfires series. This educational and interactive series about wildfires in Central Oregon will focus on how to prepare for the increasingly dangerous wildfire seasons, bring attention to inequity in fire management and emergency response, and provide information on how to engage in mutual aid and support community members during the time of crisis wildfire season is for many. This series will be taking place throughout the month of May, with multiple parts that will include a virtual community discussion, educational videos, and social media posts.
