Violent crime has been reduced 50% over the last 25 years. The media wants everyone, especially women, to believe it is more dangerous today than 20 years ago but that is simply not the case. The media knows, as do the political parties, that scared fearful people make bad decisions and will allow rights to be taken away in the hopes that they will be less afraid. I am dismayed that not one commentator on any media has brought up the fact that violence, especially gun violence, is pervasive on television. It is my opinion and belief that violence is a learned behavior. If this is fact; then America's homes are being invaded daily by violent show after violent show on television and this is exacerbating the violence problem in the United States. Extreme deviant behavior is illustrated and played out on television daily and seemingly at all times, day or night. Gangsters and organized crime and drug use are glorified. We need to approach violence problems in America with reason and logic. This is a multifaceted issue and therefore any solution must be multifaceted; to and including stopping the visual presentation of violence via the media. By multifaceted I mean there are many parts to be addressed to create a meaningful solution.
