Esencia combines the harmony of jazz with the compelling rhythms of Afro-Carribean music. We're so jazzed about opening again, post-covid, bringing outstanding jazz artists to play in the beauty of the Palo Alto foothills beside the vineyard. Enjoy a picnic and a bottle of wine as we celebrate our 10th season! SummerJazz welcomes back Tod Dickow, who last payed here five years ago to a sold-out performance. He returns with his Orquestra Esencia. Tod Dickow-Sax, Al Bent-Trombone, John Christensen-Trumpet, Jorge Ellington-Vocals and Percussion, Jeremy Lieber-Piano, Jeff Chambers-Bass, Pepe Jacobo-Percussion, David Frazier-Congas. Tod Dickow has appeared with numerous celebrated artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Jackie & Roy, Harry Connick Jr, Steve Allen, Terry Gibbs, Frank Sinatra Jr., Dave Brubeck, and many more.He appears regularly with the Al Molina Sextet, Walley Scnalle's Bang, John Worley's "Miles of Blue" (a "Kind of Blue" tribute band), and the Latin Jazz group "Aryto".   The concert begins at 6pm.  We’re open from 5:00 to 8:00. Picnic tables are not available; feel free to bring a blanket to spread on the ground, or beach chairs.  Please consider carpooling or bicycling, as parking is very limited. We'll pour tastes of our wines, and we invite you to bring a picnic. Wine will also be available for purchase by the bottle. The event will take place outdoors, and will comply with covid guidelines then in effect.
