SAN FRANCISCO, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed on Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday. But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, Golden State residents should know that the state gave the green light to resume use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this weekend. The news came just one day after federal health officials declared the vaccine safe. "After additional review, analysis and scrutiny, experts have concluded the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is safe, effective and will protect you against the COVID-19 virus," Gov. Gavin Newsom said. "To date, about a million Californians have already received this vaccine – including myself and many of the state's top doctors." The Golden State halted use of J&J following reports from the federal government that at least 15 people had developed cases of severe blood clots after being inoculated. What's more, California has now fully vaccinated more than a third of its adult population, and on Sunday it recorded a 1.3 percent coronavirus positivity rate.
