-- Please only contact if you have experience with herding breeds --
Meet Kent, a smart, loving, attentive, ~45 lb, neutered McNab mix who loves cuddling. In a past life, Kent likely had herding experience. He’s crate, leash, and house-trained; he’s great in cars, crowded spaces, and with other dogs; he has mastery of basic commands and will match your energy level. He was adopted by his current owner around 4 years ago, and his history beforehand is not known.
With his current owner, Kent has developed prey-reactivity and at times, human aggression. He has escalated to biting strangers he believes are “intruders”, all in the leg, breaking skin once. When on a farm being rehabilitated by a trainer, Kent displayed no reactive or aggressive behaviors. He was calm around cats and other animals. He never barked. Unfortunately, the behaviors returned once Kent was back with his owner.
In the right situation, and with an owner more experienced with herding breeds, Kent could be an incredible dog. He'd benefit from someone who can give him plenty of exercise, set firm boundaries, give him a job, and lots of love. He's very attached to his current owner, so please expect an adjustment period as he gets used to a new home. The fee to adopt Kent is $150.
