Description

Work in an incredibly scenic forest near the ocean, at an established, well respected, rare plant nursery featuring outdoor plants that are not common. If you are you a nature and science type, you might be a good fit. There are trails throughout the nursery that provide a park like feel making it unlike other nurseries. It is not just rows of plants in plastic pots. Attitude, drive and wanting to learn, more important than experience. Note: Job is flexible on days, full days 2-4 full days a week. Could be more days for right person who shows drive and see below on right hand man aspect. Here's an opportunity in a great spot. The property has a scenic lake, stream, small waterfalls and cliffs. It really motivates. If you have a keen eye for the plant world and are thinking of a career in it, this might be for you...there is much to learn. The nursery is also a "destination spot" for relaxing, botanizing, hiking and camping also. A very scenic and spacious tent campground was installed last year. There could be work with campground upkeep and greeting campers if your comfortable. SOME OF THE NURSERY WORK: transplanting plants in the field and forest...can train you in twenty minutes. Occasional large plants to be moved, always with a helper. Some work on your own, some with another helper or me. I'm a good teacher. Weeding, watering, maintaining trails, learning the plants. You ARE going to get dirty and grungy...it's all outside...be ok with that. Be in reasonable shape. Lots of grunt work but "fun" grunt work and lots to learn. If you have a good eye and can connect with nature this might be for you. If you like chain saw stuff there is occasional thinning of forest/chain saw work. (This is NOT mandatory) There is OCCASIONAL planting work at other clients. Helping to keep the deer fence in good shape. Other general labor. Mechanical skills are a plus but not essential. Having a good eye and seeing problems is a plus. Longer term: Occasional helping out at public plant sales/garden shows. (Covid has halted that for now) For someone who wants to "get into it", learning the plants and interacting with customers down the road. (Not mandatory) Occasional landscape work installing plants, often in great scenic locations. No grass cutting. A place where you can get back to nature. For the right guy: I'm Potentially looking for right hand man that wants to learn the business and share in it...so some short of partnership is possible....down the road...but good dedicated helpers are just fine. Bonus trips to botanical gardens and other nurseries also. So, tell me a little about you, background, interests, work history and what interests you about this job. Include your phone. I will NOT get back to anyone without a phone number. PLEASE don't forget that. You might be the right fit! Escape the rat race. I can possibly provide housing if needed, for compatible person. With two options. (Of course it has to be right fit, shared house, you would have large private bedroom area on lower level, with shared kitchen-bathroom upstairs ) OR... if you want to camp, with bathroom and kitchen privileges that could be another option. Variations of work trade options. $15 cash/hour to start. $17 on landscape jobs. Bonuses for good work. Be a good worker and this could be a career.
