Drummer--Wanted--With E-Kit

Meets

New York City NY

Description

We don't want to wear someone out with a massive schlep of equipment when it's time to play shows. We want to play a lot of shows, so we're looking to keep setup and breakdown fast and simple. The smaller the kit you can use for the typical 40 minute set, the better. A top level electronic kit would help in integrating the drums into the sound of the band by making volume levels manageable at rehearsals and gigs, cutting down on mic bleeds and controlling the decay of drum sounds and preventing the buildup and collision of resonant frequencies. We don't want to bury you in the mix; we want the mix to be reliably clear with drums and vocals balanced prominently. Drums and vocals are what really do the heavy lifting and carry a lot of good music. There are a few other technical reasons that I won't go into, but I think that this is the best way forward at the present time. We are an all originals project, serious, no drug or alcohol problems, Bass, Vocals and Guitar, rocking bluesy (but not typical I IV V progressions) crazy, dissonant, short form, catchy, straight to the point rock with a classic rock familiarity factor and a futuristic modern edgy sound that will make musical sense because it won't be conceptually inaccessible. Be comfortable working out originals. If you are expecting the songs to align perfectly your influences and replicate your tastes in music please be aware that we will be making records, not listening to them. If you want to jam to your favorite music this is not the right fit. We are just getting into the start phase and want to get someplace. Guitar is fully Pfizer vaccinated, Bass and Vocals will be getting their second doses at the end of April. Within two or two and a half months we'll be gigging with a very strong ten song fast paced set and with luck, we'll be making some noise and getting attention. We're looking for somebody really good and not just average, who can create distinct parts to good songs. Basic timekeeper stuff doesn't work for us; bring additional creativity to the grooves and arrangements. We want to sound distinct, accessible, fresh and new, going beyond and stretching the obvious influences. Bonham, Starr, Grohl, Densmore, Powell, Paice, Blaine, Gadd, Moon, Walden, Watts, etc. Ideally the best person would be someone who is in line with the previously indicated substance in this ad and could answer a tour call from an industry big shot, show up and fit in with no issues about skills or ears levels. If you want to be a working full time pro this might be the right ad; the songwriting is well above average, not copycat idiomatic drivel. Be able to commit to tour, travel, if and when it happens. If you can't because of work, spouse, whatever then this is not the right fit. If you have substance abuse problems this is not the right fit. If you have chronic flake out problems--take it somewhere else. We're not tolerant of it. You'll be gone right quick. Rehearsal space costs are being covered by the bandleader guitarist and when there's momentum happening we'll likely be sharing a monthly room at the Music Building on 8th Avenue, with bandleader taking care of the cost. Thankies!! I apologize for the length but not the attitude of this ad. It's better to indicate all the necessary information so there's no misunderstandings down the road that lead to a revolving door situation.
