I am moving so I need to rehome my sweetheart baby hedgehog Eugene. He is male, and was born at the beginning of January 2021. He is handled daily and has never once shown any signs of aggression. No bites or hisses of any sort. I am looking for him to go to a home where someone could take the time to interact with him and take care of his dietary needs. Before reaching out, please look up how to care for Hedgehogs if this would be first.
My hopes are that he won’t be used for breeding, he is special to me so I would like him to go to someone that would see him as special as well.
I took him in at 2.5 months after my sister purchased him (from reputable breeder) for $400 and changed her mind due to him being a high maintenance animal. These guys aren’t good for children because not only are they fully nocturnal, their quills would be considered sharp. I get zero pain/discomfort from handling him but I can’t imagine a child enjoying this animal. Hedgehogs aren’t typically playful with people as they are naturally very solitary but they do make the sweetest nap buddies when they’ve bonded.
He will come with:
-a water bottle feeder from amazon ($20)
-months worth of hedgehog kibble from amazon (you would need to continuously purchase veggies and insects for daily consumption as well though) ($30)
-A pen like foldable enclosure that can be easily rinsed and cleaned ($15)
-His absolute favorite thing, the “silent“ runner - his wheel (orig $40)
-baby blankets from blanket ($15)
-A fleece bonding pouch purchased from Etsy that you can wear around your neck to bond (orig $40)
-snuggle banana that he like to nap in($15)
-what ever feeding insects I have at the time :)
Rehoming him for free if you purchase his goodies for $400 firm
