We are hiring a used book sourcer in the Hudson Valley area. Your job: 1) Find cheap books at thrift stores, estate sales, library sales, craigslist, etc. (cheap used books are everywhere). 2) Scan them using the phone app we will provide and set up for you. 3) Buy the ones which meet our criteria. 4) Bring them to us and get paid on the spot. How to know which book to buy: Your phone app will tell you whether we want the book you just scanned or not. If the book is good, your screen will say “BUY” and will be green. If the book is not good, your screen will say “REJECT” and will be red. Who pays for the books: You will pay the initial buying cost yourself (example: 50 cents), and we will pay you a flat $2.50 per book. So, you get reimbursed through the $2.50 and profit the difference. Example: If the book costs 50 cents, you will buy the book and bring it to us, knowing that you will profit $2 ($2.50 –.50) after we pay you for it. If you bought the book for $1, you would profit $1.50. If you got it for free, you would get $2.50. If you bring us 200 books which you bought at $1 when we meet, we will pay you $500, and you will profit $300. We will pay you $2.50 per book no matter what you bought the book for. You may have found it for free or paid $2 for it. We will not know or care. So, it is in your best interest to find cheap sources or make deals with sellers to try and get prices down. Depending on the source, it will be possible for you to find dozens of books in a short amount of time. Why you should consider this job: This is a great opportunity for you to make some fast and regular side income. You can also treat it as a full-time job and see how profitable it can be. You will be thrilled to see $1-2 add up very fast. If you find 30 books in one hour, you could make above $30 an hour. How long/often you have to work: You will make your own hours and decide how much you want to work. You can work a couple hours a week for one week and then put in long hours another. You may choose to source 3-4 days a month or do it every day. We will not monitor you. As long as you bring us books regularly, we will maintain your position and pay for your software. Training: We will show you how to use the app. We will give you initial ideas and leads for a variety of sources. We will explain what level of damage to a book is unacceptable to us, so that you do not buy books with tears/mold, etc. We will also answer any questions you have every step of the way. If we see that you are serious about this, we will increase your training and provide you with more equipment to make your sourcing faster and more efficient, resulting in you finding more books in a shorter amount of time. How/when you get paid: You will meet with us at regular intervals (example: bi-weekly) at a location which works for everyone. We will count the books you bring and double check their condition. You will then get paid $2.50 per book you found. If you found 100 books, you will get paid $250 cash. Requirements: The only starting requirements are a reliable method of transportation and a smart phone (iPhone/Android). You should also be able to lift and carry reasonably heavy bags/boxes of books. Who is this job a good fit for? - You want to make your own hours and do not want/need to be monitored. - You want to generate regular income directly proportionate to the amount of time and effort you put in. The more books you find, the more you make. - You are creative in how you find cheap/free books. - You are willing to drive to a variety of sources, like thrift stores, library sales, estate sales, etc. - The idea of potentially finding hundreds of books in one day (not unheard of) and transforming them into cash is exciting to you. - You are going to be doing it at minimum a few times a month.
