LIVERMORE, CA — One vehicle passenger died after they were ejected from car that rolled down an embankment Saturday morning along Altamont Pass near Livermore, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the vehicle. After rescue crews removed them, they were taken to the hospital by ambulance, while the ejected passenger was airlifted.
The Hondy Odyssey minivan reportedly went off of the roadway and slid down a hillside along westbound I-580 just west of North Flynn Road, CHP officer Tyler Hahn told Patch.
The passenger was taken by air to Eden Medical Center with major injuries, Hahn said. They were later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Hahn said the CHP is looking for witnesses that may have seen the collision.
