CHICAGO — Charges against one person suspected in the shooting death of 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams, the girl fatally shot in a McDonald's drive-thru on the city's West Side last weekend, have been announced. Marion Lewis, 18, of the faces several charges, including one count of first degree murder, in Adams' death, Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown said in a news conference Saturday. Lewis was arrested Thursday on the Eisenhower Expressway, police said. The suspect was shot multiple times by police as he tried to carjack a family on the expressway, Brown previously told reporters. He had been followed by police in a western suburb when he fled onto eastbound Interstate 290 and crashed near 25th Avenue. Images from the scene showed an SUV that had driven into a ditch on the shoulder of the expressway, according to earlier reports. Chicago Police Department The young girl's father, 29-year-old Jontae Adams, was shot in the back and wounded in the shooting that killed Jaslyn at the fast-food restaurant in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road, near the city's North Lawndale neighborhood. Police have said the shooting is believed to be gang-related. "You can run, but you can't hide," he said to the others involved during the news conference. "We are going to bring you to justice for this crime. The Adams family deserves nothing less."
