You cannot attract the brightest and the bravest to defend our communities without paying more. Who wants to be a cop when more lucrative opportunities exist? Paying officers more would help solve the problem of recruiting more candidates. More pay for officers would attract military veterans to the force. Police reform will need to come in many forms. In my opinion, if you want the best candidates, you need to pay for the best candidates.
