TO APPLY: JOB SUMMARY The Solar Tech is responsible for conducting a variety of operations support that include but are not limited to: site assessments for residential solar customers, submitting permits to building departments, staging and running material for installation crews, inspections with utility and building departments, assisting with the installation, and whatever other tasks and or aspects are needed to support the overall operations of the company. The Solar Tech reports directly to the Operations Manager and is expected to work independently and without direct supervision. Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Responsible for all aspects of operational support, with primary focus on information completeness and timeliness. 2. Develop a positive relationship with customers to establish rapport and to gather facilities assessment data. 3. Conduct a solar site assessment, including: Structural: Access the underlying structure of the roof (attic, crawlspace, etc.) to assess and measure the existing environment. Electrical: Access the main and sub electrical panels in order to assess solar interconnection. Shading: Access the roof in order to measure site shading and roof dimensions. · Upload solar site data to the design and interconnection/rebate team. · Communicate with design team and Professional Engineer, as necessary, to explain site conditions and special circumstances. · Communicate with interconnection/rebate specialist, as necessary, to alleviate interconnection or rebate related issues. · Coordinate with residential solar installation team to pre-emptively address special site conditions. Monitor permitting reports: 1. Submit for permits, request redesigns for necessary revisions, monitor permitting statuses and ensure permits are received back as quickly and efficiently as possible. 1. Assist with various service cases. Requirements 1. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment. Submit driving record with application. High School Diploma or GED (Two years college or equivalent work experience preferred) Able to exchange non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate. Cheerful attitude and willingness to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Intermediate knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, Excel Ability to multi-task Demonstrated interest in renewable energy. Knowledge and Skills · Understanding of basic structural terms (rafter, ridge beam, etc.) · Understanding of basic electrical terms (bus bar, breaker, etc.) · The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. · Ability to effectively use a tablet, PC, and digital camera. · Ability to read construction documents. · Excellent written and verbal communications skills required in order to prepare site audit documents and conduct site audit meetings with customers. · Excellent organization and documentations skills. · Ability to review and understand construction drawings. · Ability to communicate orally and in writing. · Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work closely with multiple departments. · Ability to work without direct supervision. · Ability to lift and operate an extension ladder · Ability to use multiple electronic items, including tablet, PCs, handheld devices, and digital cameras. · Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software, and the ability to learn new software. #IND
