We'll have a short talk about Woodcocks and then, if the birds cooperate, we'll get a chance to hear and likely see their amazing courtship. Join us at dusk to celebrate the great American Woodcock. This unusual bird has been part of Native American and New England folklore for thousands of years and is a valuable species in our wetlands and fields. Luckily there are still woodcocks living in Cambridge habitats. We’ll have a quick talk about Woodcocks and then, if the birds cooperate, we’ll get a chance to hear (and likely see depending on weather) one of the most impressive courtship displays in the animal kingdom. Dress appropriately! Bring your listening ears. Limited to 15—we will maintain a waiting list.
