Cardiovascular Institute of the South (Houma) & Terrebonne General Health System to host Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings on May 11th. Join Cardiovascular Institute of the South & Terrebonne General Health System for one of our Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings! CIS will be providing FREE Electrocardiograms (EKG), Thermal Imaging Screenings, InBody 360 Scale, Weight Management Consultations & Blood Pressure screenings on Tuesday, May 11 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An EKG is recommended for those with risk factors of heart disease, or those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat or heavy heartbeats. Thermal imaging scans use new technology that can detect venous insufficiency. This event will include refreshments, giveaways, and more! Please allow around 30 minutes to complete all screenings. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
